A Note from Stephanie
Halen is one of those people who sees technology for what it should be: a tool that makes the human side of business work better. He first worked with us on the very unglamorous task of organizing and updating SKUs across more than 100 products so we could better track fabric usage — and instead of disappearing when the project ended, he stayed connected.
That means a lot to me. Halen has continued to support Bumby as we modernize our systems, rethink parts of our digital storefront, and build out what we call the Bumby Village. He brings a mix of technical thinking, curiosity, and genuine care for local business that fits beautifully with where we're headed.
Who is Halen?
I’m a Business Technology Management student in Calgary with a deep passion for bridging the gap between technical operations and creative entrepreneurship.
What matters most to me is using technology strategically to make business operations easier and better while helping strengthen local businesses like Bumby Wool.
Halen's Bumby Story
I got to know Bumby Wool through a work-integrated learning project earlier this year.
I helped organize and update SKUs across more than 100 products to improve the way fabric usage could be tracked. It was an incredible hands-on opportunity to use my knowledge of software and applications to help solve a real business problem.
What makes my Bumby story a little different is that it didn’t end when the project did. I stayed in touch with Stephanie and have continued supporting Bumby’s technology transition as the company modernizes its digital storefront and scales the Bumby Village.
What He'd Love to Highlight
For me, the biggest highlight is being able to apply what I’m learning to something real.
Working with Bumby has given me the opportunity to strengthen both my technical and interpersonal skills while contributing to systems that can make everyday business operations more organized, efficient, and scalable.
It’s been especially rewarding to continue contributing beyond the original project and to see how technology can support the growth of a creative, community-focused Alberta business.
What He Loves Most About Bumby
What I love most about Bumby Wool is that it’s becoming a village — one that treats customers, learners, retailers, and community partners like family.
Bumby brings together local sustainability, community support, and digital innovation in a way that feels genuinely connected.
Being part of the Bumby Village has given me the perfect space to grow both my soft skills and technical skills while contributing to an awesome Alberta brand.
