Working Mom | Bumby Customer & Creator
A Note from Stephanie
Maria and I connected in a way that feels very Bumby.
She reached out after Lindsey from Redwood Cloth apparently assured her that I’m nice and don’t bite. 😂 What Maria didn’t know was that I had already been watching her content and was getting ready to reach out to her myself.
I liked the way she reviewed products because she was honest. Good, bad, ugly, all of it. She didn’t seem interested in telling people what they wanted to hear, and that was exactly why I wanted her opinion.
So when she asked about trying an Abrazo, I was genuinely excited.
I sent her a Bumby cover to experience for herself and offered her a small discount as she continued exploring our wool. I wasn’t looking for a polished endorsement. I wanted to know what a busy working mom who had already tried wool and decided it wasn’t practical for her life would actually think.
Around the same time, I had also written our Cloth Diaper 101 page and asked Maria if she would peer review it for me. I wanted to know if it was clear, useful, and non judgemental.
Instead of simply sending back edits, she jumped straight into writing me a review. 😂
Then she told me, “You nailed it.”
That made me laugh, but it also meant a lot. Maria knows this space, she is comfortable being honest, and I specifically asked for her feedback because I trusted that honesty.
Her wool story made that feedback even more valuable.
Maria had loved wool during maternity leave, but once she returned to work, the hand washing and traditional lanolizing routine became too much. She sold her wool and moved on.
Then Bumby gave her a reason to try again.
Watching her go from “wool doesn’t work for my lifestyle” to adding Heavyweight, Brushed Knit, and Abrazo covers to her stash has been pretty incredible.
And the best part is that I know Maria would tell me if she hated them. 😂
That is exactly why her opinion means so much to me.
Maria’s Bumby Story
I’m convinced Bumby Wool is the best natural fibre option for working moms.
I first dabbled in wool cloth diapers while on maternity leave and loved using them, but I didn’t love the time that went into hand washing and emulsion lanolizing.
When I went back to work, I sold all my wool and decided pockets and covers were simply a better fit for my lifestyle.
Then I was introduced to Bumby through the Redwood Cloth collaboration.
The fact that Bumby covers were machine washable and could be dry lanolized made me want to give wool another try, and it completely changed my mind.
I could finally enjoy everything I loved about wool without the extra care I thought had to come with it.
What Changed for Maria
I quickly fell in love with my Traditional Heavyweight Knit cover and have since expanded my stash to include Brushed Knit and Abrazo covers, which are just as fantastic.
The biggest difference for me was realizing that wool didn’t have to require the care routine I had experienced before.
Machine washing and dry lanolizing made it realistic for my everyday life as a working mom.
I could have the benefits of natural fibres without feeling like I had added another complicated task to an already busy schedule.
What She’d Tell Other Moms
I can’t recommend Bumby enough, especially for busy moms who love the idea of wool but have been intimidated by the care.
Bumby made wool feel realistic for my everyday life as a working mom.
I had already tried wool once and decided it wasn’t for me.
It turned out I didn’t need to give up on wool. I just needed wool that worked differently.
