Lanolin is a naturally occurring wax found in wool fiber. It is cleaned out of the wool during processing the fibers for fabric and yarn. We only use the purest pharmaceutical grade lanolin. Lanolin conditions the wool fibers and gives the waterproof protection we love about wool. Lanolin also increases the wool’s anti-bacterial properties to help your diaper cover self-clean between uses and naturalize urine. See the tabs below for more information.
How is our lanolin special?
Well you can’t really get anything better. There are several different grades of lanolin. From desgras which is not well cleaned and has some barn yard debris in it still. Then cleaned, but still can have a barn yard smell. Even the cosmetic and pharamceutical grades have a couple of levels. We got the best and highest grade purified in Belgium and inspected through a special US supplier. Making sure that not only does it smell and look clean, but I can rest assured you are getting best I can offer.
Because it is of the highest quality, we can offer this as a compliant cosmetic grade and use it in our soap manufacturing as well as you can feel safe to use it on your skin and the skin of your whole family. I like to melt it a little bit on my finger tips and then dab onto skin and slightly smooth in otherwise it can feel sticky and pull the skin. Rashes, dye or chapped skin, stinky feet and more. The natural moisturizing properties and enhanced with a natural anti-bacterial properties of the lanolin. It is mother nature’s balm. Add some essential oils and you can apply as a vapor rub. Petrolium jelly is a new man made attempt to replicate some of the properties of lanolin. It is often used as a food grade lubricant for food machinery too.
Although the lanolin we get is safe and edible, we do not have the certication to package for human consumption.
Most use about a tsp per cover of solid lanolin, so a tablespoon for 3. The smallest jars contain 4oz or about 24 tsp. The 8 oz are 48. The premix is easier but not as many treatments with a tablespoon per cover needed or so with approximately 18 to 24 treatments depending on how much is used.

Bumby lanolin is our favorite! 100% lanolin and we prefer the unscented. It mixes very well and we never have any issues when making our lano baths for our woolies.
