Lemon Blossom Fragrance Oil

A zesty citrus delight. This wonderful fresh, light lemon scent is a must have! Top notes of lemon, lime, muguet and green herbaceous. Soft powdery base notes.

This Fragrance Oil is Paraben & Phthalate Free

25 Handmade Emulsion pre-cut cubes nestled on a pillow soft cloud of 100% merino wool. Please re-use the jar or recycle.

Our Bumby Wool Solution Emulsifying Blocks are hand crafted in our workshop. We saponify food grade oils and fats, creating a luscious soap that lightly bubbles and emulsifies lanolin, as well as can be used to make a wool wash solution.

We only use the best quality Fragrance Oils (FO) and Essential Oils (EO) in our products. Many customers really like yummy smells, so we have launched scented fragrance oils as well. Please note that these oils do change the colour of the bars. Some have a mild beige colour and some are quite deep brown. This doesn’t effect the function in any way, and is fairly standard.

Our wool is felted or shrunk already
It is harder to rinse by hand
It easier and works by machine
It actually gets clean

We recommend pre-dissolving it before adding to the machine

We recommend Washing with Unicorns

Doesn’t that sound like a dream? Well lets make it a reality. We have partnered with Unicorn Laundry Care products because they are the best product I have found for our wool. Find a retailer near you or in our shop.

And rinse some more

Our wool is thick and soft and likes to hold fluid. Which means it will hold onto soap and detergent unless it is rinsed and washed well. So we highly recommend using not only very little soap, but also to rinse well.

Unicorn Beyond Soft in a natural Fabric Conditioner. It helps keeps the fibers soft and healthy.

WASH

Step 1 Dissolve 1 TBSP of Unicorn Beyond Clean in some water

Step 2 Add wool to your washing machine

Step 3 Add dissolved detergent to the dispenser

Step 4 Turn on washer to Cool setting (use wool setting or lower spin)

RINSE

Do a secondary rinse cycle, aka rinse and spin with pre-dissolved Beyond Soft Conditioner.

We also recommend doing this every so often to refresh your wool between washes. It removed light soiling and neutralized salts

What is Lanolin?

Lanolin is a naturally occurring wax found in wool fiber. It is cleaned out of the wool during processing the fibers for fabric and yarn. We only use the purest pharmaceutical grade lanolin. Lanolin conditions the wool fibers and gives the waterproof protection we love about wool. Lanolin also increases the wool’s anti-bacterial properties to help your diaper cover self-clean between uses and naturalize urine.

Try a couple ways to see what works best for you

Basic Steps

Heat some water
Add Emulsifier
Add Lanolin
Pour it into a bowl
Add a bit more water

1 Heat some Water

About half a glass and not super hot
Some find if the water is too hot or too cool it doesn’t work too well
I like to microwave in a little mason jar
Water is more important than many realize.
Lanolin will not emuslfiy in some wate types.
If you are struggling, use distilled water. A big bottle is only $1 in many stores.
Even filtered water adds minerals and things that can cause issues.

2 Add Emulsifier

Our Block are designed to emusify lanolin
Partially dissolve a block in the hot water
If you used a mason jar, you can shake it
It works better if you dance a bit
Some people use baby soap with mixed results
It’s a good idea to “burp” your lid a bit so it doesn’t spray at you like a to go coffee cup
You can just use a spoon too

3 Add Lanolin

Add some lanolin
1 block does about 1 tablespoon of lanolin
You can always add more so don’t panic
Shake some more
Don’t forget to make sure the lid is on there tight
You can remove excess Emulsion Block and save for later
We need a nice suspension but it doesn’t have to be perfect
If you have big lumps, you might want to try distilled water
If you used distilled water, then you might need more emulsion block in there.

You can also use our pre-emulsified Ready to Use Lanolin Blend to make it even easier!

Super rich, with at least 25% lanolin in the mixture.

Always inside out

You don't need to soak

Aim for the “wetzone”

Add some mixture to a bowl
Add some water
Swish & scrunch 1 at a time
Repeat

1 Add Emulsion

Add 1 tbs of your emulsion to a bowl
You might realize by now I don’t like to measure much
You can always repeat this so just add a bit
This process also lets the mixture cool a bit
I like using glass because its easier to clean

2 Add Water

Add about half a cup of water
Your tap water might be like mine and work really well
If your mixture is breaking, use distilled
Mix well

3 Dip Wool

You Wool should be inside out
Scrunch it around in there
It can be damp or dry
It should be clean
At least rinse it first if it has been used
You don’t need to leave it to soak
Lanolin adheres quickly to wool fibers
Soaking is just soaking in soap water

4 Turn right side out

Turn your wool right side out
Gently masssage the lanolin into the fibers a bit
Gently squeeze excess water back into the bowl
Lay on a towel or on a drying rack but it will drip

5 Repeat

Repeat the process with all your wool
Start with lighter colours
Add more of the mixture you made as you go
Repeat the same garments if it needs more lanolin
You have so much control over how much lanolin is going in each piece

Leave the Lanolin

Remove the soap

This is a new idea for many

Imagine washing your clothes and not rinsing them
Soap residue is damaging for all fibers including wool
The lanolin is stuck in there nicely
Use Unicorn Beyond Soft to up the softness even more
Rinse in the sink & spin in the machine is my prefered method
It also lets them dry so much faster too

Wool sops up humidy and moisture and it also repells it. Its called a miracle fiber by many. The lanolin helps the wool repel fluids back to the diaper, then as it becomes too much it absorbs a tremendous amount before feeling damp.
