Merino Wool Bloomers. Shortest inseam has a curve at the front and back for a really adorable extra poof. Standard have a nice mid thigh length which can be rouched up for added poof as well.

The long can extend quite a bit down the leg for a knickerbocker vintage golf player look. Either way, these look super cool on all genders and one of our Bumby classic looks and hugely popular.

Bloomers are the most adorable summer style, easy on and off over a fluffy bum, can be scrunched to be above knee or depending on babies size sometimes have enough length to just pass the knee. They are our favorite short style.

Bloomers are such a versatile style for boys and girls. I always bought long inseam bloomers for my boy; they had a very classic look and were perfect for covering his knees during rough-and-tumble play. Bloomers are my favorite short style for my little one. They make for excellent diaper covers over his flats and preflats but will also be great when he is out of diapers. The pleats offer an adorable fit and I find them very gender neutral and flattering. We enjoy both the standard and long inseam.

How to Measure

A really easy way to measure is to use existing pants that fit well. They don’t move around nearly as much as a squirmy baby!

The rise of a diaper is the same when off or on a baby

Night-time diapers are usually bigger, so it is a good idea to take that into account

Check our chat group on Facebook. You will probably find someone with similar measurements or sizing to chat with and get ideas.

The wool is stretchy and forgiving. We have siblings sharing the same clothes at the same time that are months/years apart in age.

We don’t put general ages for our sizes, because so often they are way off anyways. Most of our clients are using Cloth Diapers as well, which changes the bum sizes a lot between diapers, so it would just make it even more confusing.

I personally remember doing the parent clothing the baby math. “My child is 8oth percentile, age 8 months, so that means 12 to 18 months should fit, but because I am using cloth diapers I will get 24 months and make sure it has button elastic at the waistband.”

Baby Age Bottoms

Designed for Cloth Diaper usage. All of our Merino Wool Bottoms are a fully functional Cloth Diaper Cover. Our Baby Sizing has a generous cut in the rise to accomodate bulky diapers in the front and back.

Youth Age Bottoms

Designed for people out of Diapers. They still function as a cloth diaper cover, altered to have a lower rise in the front than our baby fit. They are cut more like standard classic bottoms since there is generally less bulk in the front. However, many of our clients, especially those with more trim diapers prefer this design.

Baby or Youth

The same hips are on both; youth has a shorter rise and generally longer inseams.

Standard or Slender

Slender is generally 2″ narrower than Standard.

XS, S, M, L, XL

Each size generally gets wider and taller by 2″

We have over 2000 patterns based from these 20 “bums.” All the shorts, crops and pants in size have the same fit from the waist to thigh. As an example Baby Standard Small have the same top portion in Digs, Euros, Tapered Pants or Straight Pants. So once you find your fit, you can just choose your styles without measuring again.

Cozy Black - True Black dyed at the mill

Cozy Fieldberry - Right between purple and blue. Muted and goes with a lot.

Cozy Pomegranate - Muted like a vintage red. Can look pink or red depending on what it paired with

Cozy Aleutian - Swirls of deep blue and teal. The deep dark ocean hides many secrets to unlock

Cozy Striped Melted Candies Hot summer day and a bag of candies have melted left on the car set. Lime, Lemon, B Cherry and Blackberry. Don't worry we didn't get any licorice.

Cozy Striped Melon-Coly Don't worry, this colour isn't as sad as it sounds, but it was a pretty punny play on words. Cantaloupe and watermelon play over stripes of a bamboo cutting board

Gator - Watch out for what lurks in the water! Dark green with patches of near black to ligher moss

Cozy Melange Amber - Bronze, Amber, Honey, Gold and Brown glisten and shine

Cozy Striped Marvelous - Is it a bird, is it a plane no it is an entirely difference universe. You either get it or... well I hope you get get it. Bright red and blue spin with some purple where the mix.

Cozy Striped Static - Like the god of thunder, this sparks the senses with electricity. Dark hazy skies with heavy clouds and every so often a spark of yellow

Melange Fedora - I tip my hat to this amazing grey, black and white mill dyed melange. With a soft nod to newsies and the streets of London

Melange Trilby - Fedora's softer cousin ready for a weekend drive about the countryside. Brown, Grey and White blend together

Cozy Melange Sepia - Muted rose gold with soft brown tones.

Striped Amethyst - Purple jewels over black stripes

Striped Biscuit - Milled dyed brown and natural stripes. The base for many of our striped colours. An elevated look that is great for hiding strains

Cozy Striped Cobalt - Rich bright cobalt blue

Striped Creme - Let's honestly this is not a great picture. But this colour is really cool. Soft wheat over the buscuit with a slight green hint. It is like the inside of a creamy chocolate egg

Cozy Melange Mustard - Dijon, Grey Poupon have nothing on this seedy mustard on melange. Brown and gold shine through.

Striped Saffron - Saffron has always been a popular colours. First time on striped though. The most valued spice I hear

Cozy Striped Hay - Soft golden wheat on the prairies on a hot summer day

Striped Jade - muted sage green on striped wool. This can look very classy in the pairing and also looks amazing with pinks and purples for a flower leaves look

Striped Tigress - Orange and black stripes, we really couldn't have picked a better name

Cozy Striped Tin - Soft grey and white stripes. The base for many of our striped wools

Cozy Striped Linus - get it? It is a nice brown with lines. We could have called it Charlie, but thought linus was funny.

Cozy Striped Twilight - Black and white stripes the base for some of our striped wools. This hids dirt super well.

Comfy Holly - Dark red with a hint of burgundy to cut the brightness.

Our wool is thick and soft and likes to hold fluid. Which means it will hold onto soap and detergent unless it is rinsed and washed well. So we highly recommend using not only very little soap, but also to rinse well.

Unicorn Beyond Soft in a natural Fabric Conditioner. It helps keeps the fibers soft and healthy.

WASH

Step 1 Dissolve 1 TBSP of Unicorn Beyond Clean in some water

Step 2 Add wool to your washing machine

Step 3 Add dissolved detergent to the dispenser

Step 4 Turn on washer to Cool setting (use wool setting or lower spin)

RINSE

Do a secondary rinse cycle, aka rinse and spin with pre-dissolved Beyond Soft Conditioner.

We also recommend doing this every so often to refresh your wool between washes. It removed light soiling and neutralized salts

What is Lanolin?

Lanolin is a naturally occurring wax found in wool fiber. It is cleaned out of the wool during processing the fibers for fabric and yarn. We only use the purest pharmaceutical grade lanolin. Lanolin conditions the wool fibers and gives the waterproof protection we love about wool. Lanolin also increases the wool’s anti-bacterial properties to help your diaper cover self-clean between uses and naturalize urine.

Try a couple ways to see what works best for you

Basic Steps

Heat some water
Add Emulsifier
Add Lanolin
Pour it into a bowl
Add a bit more water

1 Heat some Water

About half a glass and not super hot
Some find if the water is too hot or too cool it doesn’t work too well
I like to microwave in a little mason jar
Water is more important than many realize.
Lanolin will not emuslfiy in some wate types.
If you are struggling, use distilled water. A big bottle is only $1 in many stores.
Even filtered water adds minerals and things that can cause issues.

2 Add Emulsifier

Our Block are designed to emusify lanolin
Partially dissolve a block in the hot water
If you used a mason jar, you can shake it
It works better if you dance a bit
Some people use baby soap with mixed results
It’s a good idea to “burp” your lid a bit so it doesn’t spray at you like a to go coffee cup
You can just use a spoon too

3 Add Lanolin

Add some lanolin
1 block does about 1 tablespoon of lanolin
You can always add more so don’t panic
Shake some more
Don’t forget to make sure the lid is on there tight
You can remove excess Emulsion Block and save for later
We need a nice suspension but it doesn’t have to be perfect
If you have big lumps, you might want to try distilled water
If you used distilled water, then you might need more emulsion block in there.

Super rich, with at least 25% lanolin in the mixture.

Always inside out

You don't need to soak

Aim for the “wetzone”

Add some mixture to a bowl
Add some water
Swish & scrunch 1 at a time
Repeat

1 Add Emulsion

Add 1 tbs of your emulsion to a bowl
You might realize by now I don’t like to measure much
You can always repeat this so just add a bit
This process also lets the mixture cool a bit
I like using glass because its easier to clean

2 Add Water

Add about half a cup of water
Your tap water might be like mine and work really well
If your mixture is breaking, use distilled
Mix well

3 Dip Wool

You Wool should be inside out
Scrunch it around in there
It can be damp or dry
It should be clean
At least rinse it first if it has been used
You don’t need to leave it to soak
Lanolin adheres quickly to wool fibers
Soaking is just soaking in soap water

4 Turn right side out

Turn your wool right side out
Gently masssage the lanolin into the fibers a bit
Gently squeeze excess water back into the bowl
Lay on a towel or on a drying rack but it will drip

5 Repeat

Repeat the process with all your wool
Start with lighter colours
Add more of the mixture you made as you go
Repeat the same garments if it needs more lanolin
You have so much control over how much lanolin is going in each piece

rinse

Leave the Lanolin

Remove the soap

This is a new idea for many

Imagine washing your clothes and not rinsing them
Soap residue is damaging for all fibers including wool
The lanolin is stuck in there nicely
Use Unicorn Beyond Soft to up the softness even more
Rinse in the sink & spin in the machine is my prefered method
It also lets them dry so much faster too
